Dear Dr.K, How do I know if I have ED?
Erectile Dysfunction or ED is not the occasional inability to get and keep an erection. Rather it is a persistent and often increasing problem of poor erectile response. So how do I really know if I have ED?
There are 5 questions you can ask yourself, answering truthfully, that will help determine whether you suffer from ED. Grade each response from 1 to 5, with 1 being “very low,” “almost never,” or “very difficult,” and 5 being “very high,” “always,” or “not difficult,” depending on the context of the question.
Question 1 asks “How confident am I that I can get and maintain an erection?”
Question 2 asks “How often are my erections firm enough for penetration?”
The third question asks “How often am I able to maintain my erection during intercourse after penetration?”
Question 4 asks “How difficult is it to maintain my erection to the completion of intercourse.”
And finally, the last question asks “How often intercourse was satisfying for me?”
The lower your score, the more severe your ED. A score of 16 or below indicates moderate to severe ED.
